During the holiday season, companies across the U.S. participate in various types of office gift exchanges and charitable contributions. The staff at L3 Corporation found a way to blend these two traditions into one fun event.
For the second year in a row, L3 Corporation decided to take a different approach to the common “Secret Santa” gift exchange in an effort to spread joy to children in need. Similar to the traditional exchange, each employee drew the name of a coworker from a hat. When the names were drawn, the team members shopped for a toy that specifically reminded them of the selected co-worker. At the holiday gathering, as each employee opened the gift that was purchased in their honor, the gift giver explained why that toy was chosen.
“The fun is two-fold,” employee Karen Giamalva said. “It’s so much fun to see what inspired the selection of each toy. Knowing that a child will later get to enjoy the toy is the icing on the cake.”
“We really go out of our way to see who can be the most creative with the process,” Craig Wielansky, President of L3 Corporation, said. “To try and match an off-the-wall gift with a coworker’s personality can actually be a challenge”.
The U.S Marine Corps has been brightened the holiday season for under-privileged children through the Toys for Tots program for more than 60 years. L3 Corporation is honored to be able to share in the tradition of giving.
